Quite a few people strongly feel that vinyl records are the most ultimate way to enjoy an album. These people believe there is just a certain magic to seeing the black circle spin and knowing that the wonderful sound you’re listening to is coming from a needle instead of a bunch of ones and zeroes like with CDs.
It is this “magic feeling” (to quote “You Never Give Me Your Money” that has Beatles fiends extremely excited about the rumors of The Beatles 2009 remasters making their way onto vinyl records in 2010. Although as of right now no date for release has been set, it’s known that Apple Corps. is working on a vinyl release of The Beatles remastered stereo mixes but there’s no indication that the mono remasters will also be released on vinyl.
The Beatles LPs that are available at the moment were created using the old 1987 digital remasters so these new vinyl LPs should be significantly improved in sound quality like the new CDs are in comparison to the ‘87 discs (and, by the way, I definitely recommend listening to these new CDs if you haven’t yet.
I am definitely planning on ordering The Beatles Remasters Vinyl LP Box as soon as it is available for purchase (I’m positive it’ll sell out very quickly) even though I’ve already purchased all of these remasters on CD.
According to the reports that I’ve seen, the remastered Beatles vinyl will be available individually and in a vinyl box set The rumored release date is 3/16/2010 but there is a good possibility that won’t end up as the actual release date.
In the meantime I strongly recommend buying The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Box Set and The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set. They both sound awesome. I end up listening to stereo mixes more commonly (as I just prefer listening to music in stereo more than music mixed in mono, in general) but that being said, the mono versions are interesting too.
